New Visions Democratic Club February Meeting
Join the New Visions Democratic Club for their monthly meeting on Thursday, February 8th at 8pm at the Jewish Center of Jackson Heights, 37-06 77th Street, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. The meeting will feature a guest speaker this month -- Insha Rahman, Program Director at the Vera Institute for Justice and a former public defender at the Bronx Defenders. Ms. Rahman will be talking about her tireless work, along with an array of advocates, around bail reform: what is bail; how the unnecessary incarceration that follows from it, especially at Rikers Island, drastically impacts poor communities of color; and the efforts now in New York to eliminate cash bail.
