Congressman Gregory Meeks Unanimously Elected Chair of Queens Dems

 

Congressman Gregory Meeks was unanimously elected the new Chair of the Queens County Democratic Party by a vote of the borough's Democratic District Leaders on Monday, March 11th, 2019.

A born and raised New Yorker, Congressman Meeks brings over forty years of passion for public service to his role as Chair of Queens Dems. After graduating from Howard University School of Law, Meeks moved back to New York and became an assistant district attorney in Queens. In 1992, he was elected to the New York State Assembly by the voters of 31st Assembly District, and in 1998, Queens voters sent Meeks to Congress.

Congressman Meeks represents the Fifth Congressional District, which encompasses all of southern Queens, and is the Chair of the House Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions.
